Troy Williamson Confident, Vows To Break Down and Stop Josh Kelly

Troy Williamson and Josh Kelly will collide in a British title fight that domestic fans have been craving.

Williamson puts his super welterweight crown on the line against former amateur star Kelly in December at a big night of boxing in Newcastle.

The British champion beat David Benitez at Bolton last weekend to sanction his showdown with Kelly, the date and venue of which will be confirmed in due course.

The delicious clash pits rivals from the North East against each other with Darlington’s Williamson defending his British belt for the second time, against Sunderland hero Kelly.

Williamson is an exciting fighter on the British boxing scene, taking part in back-to-back Fight of the Year contenders and his clash with Kelly promises to be a domestic feud.

The ‘Trojan’ is on a roll after winning the title over Ted Cheeseman and Mason Cartwright, while ‘Pretty Boy’ Kelly has been rebuilding his career after a tough loss to David Avanesyan last year.

Williamson was deeply impressed with his rival’s latest performance and vowed to wear down and stop the 2016 Olympian.

Troy Williamson said: “I am so happy Josh has agreed to fight me because this is a monster fight for British boxing and it will be shown live to a huge television audience.

“But Josh, mark my words, you have made a huge mistake because you have never faced anyone like me, and I will crush you and stop you.

“Your Olympic pedigree won’t do you any good when the going gets tough and it drags you into deep water.”

Richard Schaefer, Chairman of Probellum, said: “There is no question about Troy Williamson’s status as one of Britain’s most exciting boxers because he delivers drama in spades.

“And this brilliant British title fight with Josh Kelly promises to be another fight of the year contender to add to Troy’s collection.

“I was ringside to see Troy get up off the floor and beat Cartwright on points at Probellum Throwdown and I know this will top that fight for action and entertainment.”
