Thiago Alcantara set to miss the Qatar World Cup with Spain

If you ask any Liverpool fan for their opinion of Thiago Alcantara, he is certainly a player that many would regard as our best midfielder and a certainty to start with if fit enough and capable enough to do so.

However, this is clearly not a view shared by Luis Enrique, as our man has been left out of Spain’s World Cup squad and was never really in contention to be part of it.

Our number 6 has not played for his national team in over a year and it is clear that he is no longer in the running to be part of the first team in the future, unless injuries present him with the opportunity to play again.

In place of the 31-year-old is: Sergio Busquets, Rodrigo Hernandez, Gavi, Carlos Soler, Mark Llorente, Pedri and Koke.

However, we can see all of this as good news for the Reds as another player has now been confirmed to be out of the tournament and this should help ensure we are ready to compete on all fronts when the World Cup is over and our match with Manchester City. begins an exciting return to domestic football.

Jurgen Klopp will have to do some cheerleading as he tries to keep everyone’s emotions in check mentally and physically before our final game, during the tournament and after its conclusion.
