Ten Hag held “several meetings” with former Man City midfielder

Erik ten Hag has reportedly been in talks with Brahim Diaz about a possible return to the Premier League, just three years after leaving Manchester City.

Diaz left City after having trouble appearing regularly for the club. He then moved on to the reigning European champions in 2019 and made six La Liga appearances during his first season. Former Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane opted to send Diaz on loan to AC Milan in 2020, where he has stayed ever since.

Under Zidane, Díaz played the fewest minutes of any member of the team. Once he ends his loan at the end of the season, he will ask Carlo Ancelotti not to let the same thing happen again and to be a regular starter. If the coach cannot promise this, Diaz will look for another club.

United will monitor the situation

According to the Spanish outlet Nacional, Erik ten Hag has become “obsessed” with the midfielder and has already held “several meetings” to discuss a possible signing.

Due to his current loan commitments in Italy, a deal is unlikely to be completed in January. A summer move is more realistic for Diaz.
