Pogba’s brother released from prison over blackmail case

Paul Pogba’s brother Mathias has been released from prison in France, according to his lawyer, Football Italia reports.

The Juventus midfielder was forced to report his brother to police in France and Italy after he was the victim of an extortion attempt with his brother and childhood friends threatening him.

Matthias posted some automated tweets when he was arrested in September and has been in custody ever since while police conducted their investigation.

However, the report confirms that he has now been released by the French police, but it is not clear if the case has been solved.

Juve FC says

Problems on and off the pitch cast a shadow over Pogba’s Manchester United career, and the last thing he wants is for that to happen at Juventus.

The midfielder has been one of our most accomplished signings. However, we haven’t been able to count on him since he returned to Turin in the summer, which is far from what he and the club expected.

Hopefully this case won’t take a new turn and he’ll be allowed to focus on playing for us, which is why we signed him in the first place.

We also pray that he doesn’t become the last injury-prone player we’ll sign because that would be embarrassing, considering how many we’ve had before signing him.
