(A score of 6 is around average)

Ondrej Mastny – 6.5 – A decent goalkeeper performance with several saves and always calm on the ball couldn’t do much for Monaco’s two goals.

Marc Jurado – 5.5 – Had a good first half but got caught between positions after Kambwala’s introduction and ended up offering little either way.

Rhys Bennett – 7 – Rock solid at the back, he made a number of key saves to thwart Monaco’s attacks and generally didn’t let anything slide.

Teden Mengi – 5.5 – Allowed too much space for the Monaco attackers in the box and played too slowly from behind.

Bjorn Hardley – 5 – Had a rough time with the Monaco right winger who liked to dribble and run from behind. The first of the Monaco went down the side of him.

Charlie Savage – 6 – Held possession well in midfield and was calm under pressure, but seemed reluctant to show his passing range when given the opportunity to stretch the game, preferring always to play short.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7 – The standout player, his strength and ability to withstand challenges created many openings in midfield and prompted a number of fouls. Unfortunately, there were few threats in front of him to take advantage of his good game.

Omari Forson – 5.5 – A decent link game, but was disappointed in the final third missing some great opportunities late on the fast breaks.

Isak Hansen-Aaroen – 6.5 – Showed a lot of talent on the ball with quick short passes out of the pressure and clever dribbling, he was unlucky not to have been rewarded with an assist for his good play.

Noam Emeran – 6 – Made some exciting dribbles early on and had some clever touches, but ultimately couldn’t create the final product beyond giving Forson a great opportunity.

Charlie McNeill – 5.5 – He seemed to have exhausted all his fine finishing in the warm-ups where he was sending shots straight into the corner. But when he counted during the match, he scraped the chances from him. He cut an isolated figure at the top and just doesn’t have the presence to play the role effectively, but he did have some decent moments when he fell deep or wide.

substitutes

Willy Kambwala – 5 – He seemed uncomfortable on the ball and generally seemed positionally confused as to whether he was meant to operate at right back or right centre.

Tom Huddlestone – 6.5 – He didn’t miss a pass, even under pressure, and he made some exquisite crosses.

Maxi Oyedele – N/A – Not enough to make an impact.
