One-word insult Messi shouted at Milner after getting clattered at Camp Nou recalled online

James Milner has been a wonderful servant for Liverpool Football Club ever since the Reds managed to sign the former Manchester City midfielder on a free transfer.

The Englishman has had some wonderful moments alongside us, including our remarkable run in the Champions League and victory in the 2018/19 season.

He recalled the moment Leo Messi did not take well a big challenge from him at the Camp Nou in his book ‘Ask a footballer’ (in quotes shared on Twitter by @LFCTransferRoom).

There are certainly worse insults the legendary playmaker could have used besides ‘jackass’, though it’s good to see our number 7 didn’t take it personally.

We return to the Catalan giants with a historic win at Anfield en route to the final and a 2-0 victory over Tottenham to seal our sixth trophy of the competition.

Although the former Leeds United star’s contract is due to expire next summer and much of the fan base will be keen to see another extension not provided amidst our ongoing mid-park struggles, Milner deserves more than a shred of gratitude your way for the role you’ve played at L4.

He has been a perfect role model at the club and has fitted in wherever Jurgen Klopp has asked of him, a true professional who will be missed in playing ability in 2023.
