Neil Jones says Liverpool feel 18-year-old star has ‘serious, serious potential’

It’s hard to see any light in the tunnel for Liverpool as the club have only collected 20 points out of a possible 36 in the English top flight so far.

Nonetheless, it bodes well for the future that the team possesses some exciting talent with ‘serious, serious potential’, including Stefan Bajcetic, as Neil Jones has pointed out.

“I have no doubt that some of the key players will get their form back, that others will come back from injury and make a difference, and that some of the players we now see as ‘projects’ will turn out well,” the Goal reporter wrote. in his personal column on Substack. “I wrote about Darwin Nunez here last week, but in Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho there is serious, serious potential, and the club seems to feel the same about Stefan Bajcetic.”

The youngster has bagged 40 minutes of football in the Champions League and the Premier League, where victories were already more or less assured, including the nine-goal thrashing of Bournemouth.

Regardless, it’s important that we reward our up-and-coming talent where possible and give them a potentially transformative first-team experience.

If Fabinho continues to struggle in the second half of the campaign, questions will inevitably arise as to whether our No. 3 should be dropped more regularly to give someone else a chance to keep his place.

It would put enormous pressure on a player as young as Bajcetic, although it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen pearls sprout after being thrown into the deep end.

We would prefer to see our Brazilian lighthouse rediscover its best performances, of course, although more drastic measures may be necessary depending on how we reinforce the team in the winter window.
