Marcos Rojo banned from captaining Boca Juniors for a month – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo received an additional and unusual punishment from the Argentine Football Federation just days after receiving a red card in the Superclásico.

Rojo, as reported here earlier, received his marching orders in the closing minutes of his team’s clash with bitter rivals River Plate.

In true Red fashion, when the game almost stopped, he unleashed a kung-fu kick that caught Nicolás de la Cruz square in the face.

The challenge was deemed too high and excessive; as a result, he was expelled.

However, that didn’t spell the end of the 32-year-old’s woes as it has now happened.

Since then, Rojo has been hit with more punitive actions as the Argentine Football Association ruled that he should not wear Boca’s captain’s armband for a month.

The bizarre punishment means the star, who won the Europa League with United, will only be able to captain his team from October 12, when they face Sarmiento.

Speaking about his problems, Rojo said, “It doesn’t bother me.”

“The classics are like that, they go a little over the line.”

He added: “I had three fouls in the whole match, we didn’t foul as many, we had some tactics, it’s not like we had aggressive play or weird stuff.”

“We are calm with the things we did, how we approached the game and how we won it”.

As expected, he was neither apologetic nor remorseful.
