Manchester United have made a new appointment to the board, with the addition of established legal entity Patrick Stewart to the club’s PLC board of directors.

Stewart has been associated with United for more than a decade and has served in various roles, including chief legal officer and general counsel.

Stewart has extensive legal experience.

He graduated from the University of Glasgow and the Johannes Gutenberg-Universitat Mainz in Germany. She worked for two leading UK law firms before landing her first role in the Theater of Dreams.

The lawyer has also worked with the Swiss sports marketing agency TEAM Marketing AG.

In the SEC statement announcing the appointment, it is stated that Stewart was appointed as an arbitrator at the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2018.

In his new appointment to the PLC board of directors, Stewart’s responsibilities will revolve around managing the club’s legal and regulatory affairs.

He will be tasked with overseeing and ensuring friendly relations with football stakeholders for the betterment of Manchester United.

Stewart’s announcement comes after the Glazers announced they were seeking new investment opportunities for the Red Devils.

This includes a full or partial sale of the club.

Acquisition talks appear to be gaining momentum after a report indicated that the Glazers and their representatives, the Raine Group, have set a first-quarter 2023 deadline to complete a full sale.

Another report conveyed that United co-owner Avram Glazer held talks with investors based in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Dubai about selling the club outright.
