Manchester United among clubs likely to reject Argentina FA’s request of releasing players early – Man United News And Transfer News

After a rocky start, Erik ten Hag has steadied Manchester United’s ship and the team are currently just three points behind third-placed Tottenham Hotspur with one game remaining.

The Red Devils have also qualified for the Europa League round of 16 and will take to the field on Thursday to finish top of their group.

The Dutch manager has done a good job so far and the players are starting to show glimpses of how the new boss wants them to play.

Argentina FA request to be rejected

The former Ajax manager has improved the prospects of previously underachieving stars, while his new signings have done tremendously well.

If United fans were asked to name the player who has impressed them the most, most are likely to name centre-back Lisandro Martinez.

The Argentine has been an ever-present member of the squad and Ten Hag is unlikely to give in to the Argentina FA’s request to leave his players out of the final round of matches before the World Cup.

According to Sportsmail, “The Argentine FA has already asked an English club to release a player early for the tournament in Qatar this month, and has ruled him out out of hand.

“It is understood that the club has informed other Premier League teams affected by the clash between clubs and countries, and any further requests from Argentina will be met with stiff resistance,” the report added.

There are six Argentine internationals plying their trade in the Premier League with United under Martinez and academy star Alejandro Garnacho.

Fight club vs selection before the World Cup

The young winger is likely to get minutes in the EFL Cup and there is no chance the Reds will accept such a proposal.

Other teams that have Argentines in their ranks include Aston Villa, which has two stars: Emiliano Buendía and Emiliano Martínez, Spurs have Cristian Romero, while Brighton have Alexis Mac Allister.

“Argentina is believed to want its players to miss the Premier League matches from November 12-13 in order to start their World Cup preparations early.”

Lionel Scaloni’s side will face the United Arab Emirates in a friendly on November 16 before their first Group C match against Saudi Arabia in Qatar six days later.

Under FIFA rules, clubs do not have to release their players until Monday November 14, but there are fears that players may declare themselves injured for the final round of Premier League games in a bid to to escape possible injury.
