Liverpool’s incredible Konate set for first start this season v Rangers

Just when Liverpool thought their injury fortunes had improved, the absence of Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz at Arsenal proved otherwise.

However, he is likely to give Ibrahima Konate a great opportunity in the heart of the backline with the ‘incredible’ (José Enrique was quoted by The Boot Room as describing him) Frenchman who is likely to be reinstated alongside Virgil van Dijk.

The former RB Leipzig man has been a huge miss, not least because he hasn’t started since a 1-0 loss in the Champions League final in May.

There is no doubt that the loss of our No. 32 is a huge blow, although we are fortunate to have world-class quality in our options beyond the Cameroonian.

Joe Gomez too, no doubt set to replace our No.66 at right back, is a stellar option that Klopp will also potentially rely on to fill out the back four.

Hopefully the pair will bring some stability to a backline that has shipped 12 goals in our last five games (in all competitions).
