Jurgen Klopp came up with the perfect response to Gary Neville’s criticism of Trent Alexander-Arnold, bringing up the Englishman’s impressive number of medals.
The German’s comments were broadcast on Twitter by James Pearce of The Athletic ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
Klopp: “I heard that Gary Neville said something (about Trent). But now he is 24 years old and he won quite a few finals, big games where you have to defend against world-class players. He was always there, defending well. I don’t know why we have this discussion.”

The former Manchester United fullback expressed concern that No.66 could be a huge liability for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.
“In a World Cup, I think he is giving away a penalty [for his challenge on Sessegnon]”, the presenter of Monday Night Football told Sky Sports. “I don’t think Gareth would trust him in a knockout game. Which means, so he’ll take it? If he has four brilliant right backs, will he call?

It’s a rather strange statement given the fact that Eric Dier was not mentioned for his disastrous mistake that surely cost Spurs a share of the loot at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Overlooking that, it’s mind-boggling to really understand the scope of criticism pouring into Trent with many commenters seemingly jumping on the bandwagon due to his easy access.
The 24-year-old needs to work on his defensive game, but suggestions that he is a poor defender and a potentially costly presence in the England squad could be way off the mark and ignore what he brings to the table.
