FA condemn vile Hillsborough chants in latest statement

Serious questions must be asked of the FA in light of the time it took to issue a statement finally condemning the horrific mockery of the Hillsborough disaster by supporters of opposition teams during matches with Liverpool Football Club.

The @FAspokesperson account posted the governing body’s response to the situation, which outlined the continued intention to support survivor groups by providing education on the impact of such behaviour.

We have seen chants such as ‘Always the victims’ and ‘The S*n was right, you are killers’ become more and more frequent throughout the 2022/23 campaign, with little genuine action taken by the clubs responsible. .

We must stress that we are pleased to see the FA officially acknowledge that such chanting has taken place and condemn the vile behavior of those supporters who persist in such actions.

Still, it begs the question of why it has taken so long for the organization to come out and make its position clear.

Why not after the first instance this happened? Why were those responsible allowed to continue such chanting with virtually no opposition? Why were the clubs involved not challenged and pressured to address the issue?

Better late than never, of course, but we hope that this latest statement will be followed by swift and severe punishment to eliminate the possibility of future occurrences and create a climate of respect for football-related tragedies and the many affected. by them.
