English Premier League giants Chelsea appear to be favorites to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the upcoming January transfer window.
After spending time at academies such as Creteil, Manchester City, Pau FC and Pole Espoirs, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot joined Paris Saint-Germain’s youth setup.
He then graduated from the PSG academy and was promoted to the main team. Rabiot was then loaned out to Toulouse so that he can get more opportunities in the first team. Following the end of his successful loan deal, the midfielder returned to PSG. Rabiot established himself as one of the most important players in the PSG squad.
The midfielder lifted eighteen major trophies with Paris Saint-Germain. This also includes 5 Ligue 1 titles. The midfielder finally left Paris in 2019 and signed for Serie A giants Juventus. Adrien Rabiot represents France in international football. He was part of the French team that won the 2021 UEFA Nations League.
Chelsea interested in Juventus midfielder Rabiot
Now, according to a report in Transfers, English Premier League giants Chelsea are interested in signing French international Adrien Rabiot from Serie A side Juventus.
Chelsea signed England manager Graham Potter right at the end of the last summer transfer window to replace their Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel. Since he joined the club, Potter has done very well.
With him, Chelsea have managed to turn their season around. They qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 and are in the running for a top four spot in the EPL.
But Chelsea needs some signings in the next transfer window, especially in the central midfield position. The London-based club may lose two of its key members in the next transfer window. Club captain Jorginho’s contract will end next summer. Although Chelsea wants to give him a contract renewal, they are not going to meet his demands. Hence, the Italian international is looking at other options.
Like Jorginho, French international N’Golo Kante’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season. Kante has dealt with many injuries since last season and has missed quite a few games. Chelsea are currently reconsidering his contract renewal.
Hence they need a central midfielder. Now Rabiot’s contract with Juventus will expire next summer. Although he has recently been one of Juventus’ best players, they probably won’t be able to give him up due to financial problems.
So if Chelsea want the midfielder in January, Juventus will sell him for some transfer money. The Blues previously tried to sign this midfielder in the summer transfer window. However, he did not and signed another Juventus midfielder, Danis Zakaria.
With Zakaria not watching a single minute, Chelsea will try to sign Adrien Rabiot again in January. And finally this time, they will mostly secure their target.
