English Premier League giants Chelsea want to sign French international Benjamin Pavard from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Pavard began his football journey at the Lille academy. The defender later graduated from the Lille academy and was promoted to the main team.

The defender played just one season for the French club’s senior team before joining Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart. In Stuttgart, Pavard emerged as one of the best right-backs in the world. He was later rewarded with a place in the French team.

Benjamin Pavard then won the 2018 World Cup in Russia with the France national team. His goal against Argentina, which leveled them in the round of 16, was arguably one of the greatest goals in World Cup history. Finally, in January 2019, Pavard signed for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The defender then was part of the Bavarian team that raised the historic six-fold.

Now, according to a report by English Premier League outfit Todo Signings, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.

Chelsea signed England manager Graham Potter just after the end of the summer transfer window to replace their Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel. Since then, Potter has done quite well with the Blues.

Below him, Chelsea are currently in sixth place in the EPL table with twenty-one points from twelve games. They are well into the race for the top four and have also qualified for the next stage of the UEFA Champions League as group winners.

They recently suffered a huge loss when their right back Reece James was sidelined with injury. In his absence, Potter had to play Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Sterling and Pulisic in an unconventional full-back position. Hence they want to sign a new side.

French full-back Benjamin Pavard has been one of Bayern’s best players in recent seasons. His ability to play almost every position in defense makes him a great asset to the German team. But his contract with the Bavarians will end in 2024. The winger reportedly does not want to continue in Germany and will not sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich.

Thus, if Chelsea presents a good offer to Bayern, the German team will sell the side. The Blues were previously interested in bringing him in in the late summer transfer window. But they failed to secure it and Pavard remained in Germany.

Now apart from La Liga giants Chelsea, Atletico Madrid are also in the running for the side. The Spanish team wants to strengthen its defense with the arrival of Pavard. So if Chelsea want to sign him, they will have to move fast.

Chelsea will play arch-rival Arsenal in their next game.
