Chelsea remain interested in signing Arsen Zakharyan from Dynamo Moscow. Zakharyan is not a new name that Chelsea are suddenly attached to. He remained one of the main targets of the London Blues during the summer window.
The 19-year-old has sparked rumors of returning to Stamford Bridge, following his recent confession. Even though the summer move didn’t come to fruition.
However, reports from Fabrizio Ramano suggest that the movement has not yet started. The Dynamo Moscow youngster is one of the talents that Chelsea have been following for a long time. They are following the development of the player. The London giants want to sign Zakharyan for the present and the future.
The young Russian’s contract with Dynamo is set to expire in 2024. Reports suggest the club will sell him if the right price comes through.
Zakharyan about his future
Football journalist Fabrizio Ramano has posted the latest updates on Zakharyan’s future. In a recent interview, Zakharyan confirmed his decision about his future on his Twitter.
Zakharyan said: “My agents and my club have told me that a request has come in from Chelsea. I have said directly that my position is that I want to join Chelsea.
The player is also aware of the competition in the squad. Like Mount, Havertz and Gallagher all play the same position. But he doesn’t mind “going on loan to adapt to the European league.”
The downside for Chelsea in this deal
Zakharyan is very much looking forward to joining Chelsea in the mid-season transfer window. But it is still unknown whether a deal next summer is possible or not. This particular transfer did not happen due to FIFA and UEFA restrictions. Both soccer governing bodies have placed restrictions on all clubs buying Russian players. These regulatory acts were imposed when Russia invaded Ukraine, which is still ongoing.
Zakharyan just plays as an attacking midfielder. But he can also play as a midfielder. In particular, his style of play is often compared to City superstar De Bruyne.
After joining the club in 2017, the Russian midfielder came over from Dynamo Moscow’s youth academy. The 19-year-old midfielder has appeared for the Russian national team 65 times after making his senior debut in 2020. To date, he has registered 15 goals and 20 assists under his name.
This season, the player made 18 appearances for the Dynamo scoring three goals and assisting six times. Arsen Zakharyan is valued at around £12.6m, and Todd Boehly is keen to get this deal.
