La Liga giants Barcelona are interested in signing French international N’Golo Kante from Chelsea on a free transfer.
N’Golo Kante began his football career at the Boulogne academy. He then graduated from the club and made his senior debut for the club. Kante stayed one more season at the club and then joined Ligue 2 side Caen.
After joining Caen, Kante helped the club reach Ligue 1 after finishing third in the Ligue 2 table. Shortly after that, he joined English Premier League side Leicester City for a fee of 5, 6 million pounds sterling. Kante took much less time to adapt to his new team. He won the English Premier League title with Leicester.
Kante joined English Premier League side Chelsea for a fee of £32m next season. He quickly became one of the key players in the Chelsea team. So far, the French midfielder has won an English Premier League, an FA Cup and a UEFA Champions League with the Blues. The midfielder has already made his debut with France. He was a fundamental part of the France team that lifted the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Barcelona interested in N’Golo Kante
Now, according to a report from Relevo, Spanish giants Barcelona want to sign French midfielder N’Golo Kante in the upcoming summer transfer window. The report further suggests that Barcelona see him as the replacement for club captain Sergio Busquets.
After graduating from La Masia, Sergio Busquets has been at the club for more than a decade. He is Barcelona’s undisputed starter in the defensive midfield position for a long time. the Spaniard, however, has already passed his best moment. His contract with Barcelona will end next summer. And it has been understood that Busquets does not want to continue at the club.
As a result, Barcelona is already looking for many players who can replace Sergio Busquets at the club. His first option was Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi. However, the Spaniard recently signed a new contract with his club, making this transfer unlikely.
Then there is Ruben Neves. The Portuguese midfielder has previously admitted his desire to play for the Catalan giants. However, a part of the management is not convinced of him. Therefore, this transfer did not take place.
Now French midfielder N’Golo Kante has emerged as another option for Barcelona. After playing for so many years without any physical problems, Kante has been struggling with multiple injuries since last season. He even now suffers from an injury that has left him out of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Kante’s contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the season. Due to these injury issues, Chelsea are currently reconsidering giving him an extension contract. This gives Barcelona a great opportunity to sign the midfielder on a free transfer.
