Antony and Jadon Sancho missed Manchester United’s open training session ahead of their Europa League match against Real Sociedad, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Manchester United travel to Spain to face Real Sociedad in their last game of the Europa League group stage 22/23. The Red Devils must win by at least two clear goals to be crowned Group E champions.
Antony was absent from the open training session. The Brazilian winger had also missed Manchester United’s Premier League game against West Ham on Sunday. Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag said the 22-year-old missed the match due to injury.
Sancho, who was an unused substitute when Man Utd hosted West Ham at Old Trafford last week, was another player to miss the open training session.
Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial return to Man Utd training
Anthony Martial, who hasn’t played for the Red Devils since being injured against Everton, returned to Man Utd first-team training ahead of the clash with Sociedad.
Injuries have restricted the Frenchman to just four appearances for Manchester United this season. But he has been impressive on the field, racking up three goals and two assists.
In other good news for Manchester United, defender Victor Lindelof has also returned to first-team training. The Swedish centre-back had missed Man Utd’s game against West Ham due to illness.
Meanwhile, Man Utd head into their match against Real Sociedad following their 1-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League. The Old Trafford side won three crucial points courtesy of a first-half goal from Marcus Rashford.
The England international scored what would prove to be the winning goal in the 38th minute, with an imposing header after a superb cross from Christian Eriksen. That was also Rashford’s 100th goal for Man Utd.
Meanwhile, Man Utd will try to get the best of Real Sociedad and finish as winners of Group E when they take on the Spanish outfit. Sociedad had secured a win when the two teams met earlier in the 22/23 Europa League group stage.
Man Utd hosted Sociedad at Old Trafford in their first match of the 22/23 Europa League campaign. But the Red Devils fell to a 1-0 loss to the visitors with Brais Mendez converting a penalty in the second half.
The match between Man Utd and Real Sociedad kicks off at 11:15pm Indian Standard Time on Thursday.
