Manchester United hold Wout Weghorst loan deal talks

Manchester United have been in talks with Burnley about a loan deal to sign Dutch national soccer team striker Wout Weghorst, according to a 90min report.

The Red Devils are looking to bolster their attacking department in the January transfer window following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the club in November last year.

90min reports that Manchester United are exploring all options and that the Red Devils have been in talks with Burnley about the possibility of signing Wout Weghorst on loan.

Wout Weghorst, who was part of the Netherlands national soccer team that participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, currently plays for Turkish club Beşiktaş JK on loan from Burnley.

Wout Weghorst joined Beşiktaş JK on a one-year contract from Burnley in July 2022. The Turkish side also have the option to sign Wout Wehhorst on a permanent contract.

Wout Weghorst has been impressive for Besiktas since joining the Turkish club, scoring nine goals and registering four assists in 18 appearances for them.

90min reports that Burnley have told Manchester United to negotiate with Besiktas and pay any compensation they may ask for. The Red Devils, the report adds, have put forward their interest in signing Wout Weghorst with Besiktas, but the Old Trafford outfit have yet to start formal talks with the Turkish giants.

Meanwhile, Manchester United currently sit fourth in the Premier League points table with 35 points from 17 matches. Erik ten Hag and company. it is nine points behind table leaders Arsenal and four points behind second-place defending champions Manchester City.

Manchester United are also level on points with Newcastle United who are third, but the Magpies have played one more game than the Red Devils. Meanwhile, Man Utd will face Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup quarter-final in their next game.
