Bobby Firmino delivered the perfect response to his World Cup snub with the opener against Southampton before the start of the tournament.
It’s a performance that led Pat Nevin to compare the Brazilian to an octopus because of his ability to link play down the attacking line.
“If you have a 3v3 behind, Liverpool will have chances. Southampton will have to see that,” the commentator told BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport).
“It’s Firmino’s cunning, he knows where to go, he knows where the spaces are, he goes between the central defenders and the midfield and nobody picks him up.
“It’s like an octopus, its tentacles are all over the game.”
The Merseysiders are 3-1 against the South Coast team at a time when other results seem to be favoring the Reds (at the time of writing).
