No Serie A for a month but there is still the Qatar World Cup –

November 11, 2022 – 7:39 a.m.

It’s very disappointing that Italy failed to qualify for the Qatar World Cup 2020, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a month of high quality exciting football, especially if you like to have a clearance.

A World Cup is kind of a community affair, it’s a time when people get together, whether it’s at the local bar or someone’s house and that tends to involve drinking, singing, celebrating, shouting and gambling.

There really is nothing better than having a pint, some BBQ and seeing how your high odds acca is doing, something a festival of football provides.

The first three days of the World Cup have no fewer than eight games to sink their teeth into and whether it’s a simple double correct score or a direct result in all eight matches, there are more than enough opportunities to line their pockets.

The tournament kicks off on Sunday November 20 with the tournament hosts taking on South American qualifiers Ecuador, then the next day we have England v Iran, Senegal v Netherlands and USA v Wales.

Those first four games aren’t easy to decide – well, maybe the England game – but the other three could go either way and that means there will be some competitive odds for the casual bettor to enhance their enjoyment of the World Cup.

But it’s not just about placing a bet, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the social interactions that come with watching a soccer tournament.

Pubs and bars will be packed, national songs will be played and jokes will be made, especially when you have two teams creating tension, like Iran vs USA or Wales vs England, there are plenty of subplots.

Then we have the many superstars on display that we may never see again at this level, Ronaldo and Lionel Messi immediately spring to mind. This is what lasting memories are made of.

It is a pity that Italy does not participate but there are still many players from Serie A participating in the tournament and almost all the clubs in the competition will have players in Qatar, for example Juventus fans can enjoy watching Dusan Vlahovic, Adrien Rabiot, Danilo and soon.

A winter World Cup may not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s understandable, however it is what it is, we can’t change it now and there’s nothing to be gained by complaining. That time has come and gone, now is the time to embrace the competition and all it has to offer.
