The 25-year-old midfielder is in the final year of his contract with the Leipzig team. The Red Bulls could look to cash in on him in January instead of letting him go free at the end of the season.

Liverpool have struggled so far this season, managing to win just four of their first 12 games in the league. They currently sit ninth in the Premier League table, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.

The midfield has been Jurgen Klopp’s biggest area. Nearly all of the Reds’ veteran midfielders have suffered injuries in the opening weeks of the season.
