Why Juventus won’t renew Alex Sandro’s expiring contractJuvefc.com

Since joining the club in 2015, Alex Sandro has always been a regular starter at Juventus, for better or worse.

During his early years in Turin, most observers ranked the Brazilian among the best in the world at his position, but his best days are now far away.

The 31-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and it looks like this will mark the end of his stint with the Old Lady.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus have made up their minds and decided not to renew Alex Sandro’s contract.

Although the former Porto man has shown some signs of improvement of late, especially when serving in a more central position, he remains insufficient.

According to the source, the left back currently earns 6 million euros in net salary per season, and his agent would receive a lucrative commission (1.8 million) when signing the renewal.

Juventus therefore prefer to invest these figures elsewhere, adding a younger replacement to the fold.

For the good of the club, we hope that Sandro manages to put in decent performances, as the team is particularly thin at the back.

However, the timing of the change has been long overdue, and the Bianconeri need to pick a capable replacement and bring back at least one between Luca Pellegrini and Andrea Cambiaso to bolster the team’s depth.
