Paul Pogba set to miss World Cup after midfielder picks up another injury

Paul Pogba will miss next month’s World Cup in Qatar.

That’s according to a recent report by Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, which claims the French midfielder has injured his thigh and is now highly unlikely to be fit enough to play for Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus.

Despite leaving Manchester United nearly six months ago and rejoining Juventus on a free transfer, the 29-year-old playmaker is yet to make his second Old Lady debut.

Forced to go through an intense rehabilitation program, there were hopes that the former Diablo Rojo would return soon after Mino Raiola’s agent and heir to the throne, Rafaela Pimenta, recently confirmed that her star client was on the road to recovery.

However, that no longer seems to be the case and with Pogba enduring another injury setback, this time it looks certain to cost him a place at this winter’s 2022 World Cup.

How damaging this could be to Deschamps’ hopes of defending the World Cup in France remains to be seen. However, all questions will be answered once the tournament starts on November 20.
