Julen Lopetegui Not Interested in Wolves Job

Spanish manager Julen Lopetegui is reportedly not interested in joining English Premier League side Wolves as their next head coach.

Wolverhampton had a very difficult start to their EPL season. Under his former manager Bruno Lage, he only won one of his first eight matches.

Following this, Bruno Lage was sacked and U18 coach Steve Davis and U21 coach James Collins took over. Meanwhile, Wolves management began to find a new replacement for the vacant head coaching job.

The Wolves lost their first game under Davis and Collins against Chelsea last weekend by a score of 3-0. With this loss, they are currently in eighteenth position in the table having collected just six points from their first nine games.

The Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui started the reason being the head coach of Sevilla. In recent years, Sevilla have emerged as one of the strongest Spanish teams under Lopetegui’s tutelage.

That is why, at the beginning of the season, it was thought that the Spanish team would continue their good form and start in their domestic league.

However, things turned out very differently. Sevilla got just one win in their first seven league games. This was clearly a very disappointing start for the Spanish team.

So when Sevilla suffered a 4-1 defeat against Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund at home, Lopetegui was relieved of his duties at the Spanish club.

Since then, the Spaniard became the main target for the Wolves head coaching job. With Jorge Mendes as Lopetegui’s agent, it was thought that they could easily sign Lopetegui in a matter of days.

However, it seems that things did not develop as they wanted. According to a report by journalist Guillem Balague, Julen Lopetegui has turned down the offer for the Wolves coaching job.

Lopetegui has already communicated his wish to the Wolves board. And now the EPL side is looking to explore its other targets.

Wolves are currently struggling in the relegation zone. They have scored just three goals in their last nine games, which can be described as a very poor performance. The WOlves management will surely have to hurry up and bring in someone for the role before it’s too late.
