Striker scores 5 minutes into senior debut as 9 Liverpool loanees feature – Liverpool FC

Nine on loan from Liverpool were in action for their clubs over the weekend, with an academy striker scoring five minutes into his senior debut.

Fidel O’Rourke, who joined Caernarfon Town on the final day of the summer transfer window, made his first start for the Welsh Premier League club against Haverfordwest on Saturday, and as far as debuts go, he wasn’t bad.

The 20-year-old striker took just five minutes to open his account in his first senior outing, and his side won 2-1 to lift them up to second in the table.

It was an instinctive shot from O’Rourke, who finished off a long shot into the box to volley in from close range.

Elsewhere, there was a high-profile appearance for Sepp van den Berg, who once again played the full 90 minutes as Schalke were beaten 1-0 by Borussia Dortmund at the Revierderby on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Van den Berg emerged as one of Schalke’s standout players from the center and has made a promising start in the Bundesliga.

Tyler Morton played 70 minutes in Blackburn’s loss to Luton Town, and has been called up to the England under-21 squad for their upcoming friendlies with Italy and Germany.

Another to be involved for his country during the international break is Northern Ireland’s Conor Bradley, who continues to impress for Bolton, playing the full game again as they drew 0-0 at home to Peterborough.

Bradley was again deployed in a right back role and had two good chances to secure all three points. Owen Beck did not appear, as he continues to improve his fitness.

There was one FA Cup appearance for Marcelo Pitaluga, who saved a penalty but conceded a late winner as Macclesfield were eliminated by Coalville Town.

Fellow goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros kept a clean sheet in Stockport’s draw with Harrogate Town, and has been called up to the Czech Republic under-21 squad.

James Balagizi is another who has received international recognition, returning to the England setup after being named in the under-20 squad to face Chile, Morocco and Australia later this month.

Left-back Adam Lewis returned to Newport’s starting line-up and played 90 minutes in their loss to Barrow on Saturday, while Max Woltman came off the bench as Doncaster were beaten 1-0 by Swindon.

Those not involved this weekend included Leighton Clarkson, who is serving a two-game ban, Rhys Williams, who was sidelined by Blackpool’s loss to Millwall, and Paul Glatzel, who will undergo surgery following the unfortunate recurrence of a hamstring injury.
