Wilder’s Coach Does Not Rule Out Joshua Shocking Fury, Explains Why

Malik Scott, the head trainer of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, is not overlooking the chances of Anthony Joshua in the potential title showdown with Tyson Fury.

Fury, who currently holds the WBC title, has fought Wilder three times.

In their third meeting, which took place last October, Fury overcame two knockdowns to finally stop Wilder in the 11th round.

Fury and Joshua are now in serious talks to date in December.

Joshua is a huge underdog in the fight, because he is coming off back-to-back decision losses to unified world champion Oleksandr Usyk, who is much smaller than Fury, widely considered the best heavyweight in the sport.

Scott disagrees with critics who believe Joshua is making a huge mistake getting into a Fury fight.

“It’s a good time for AJ to take the Fury fight. I think AJ has the mindset that he has something to prove. He wants to get back on the horse. He wants to get back. He and Tyson have always wanted to fight each other, the big question.” Is it really going to happen? I mean, we’re in a place today where there’s so much business and people are so selfish and everyone wants to be greedy,” Scott told Fair Betting Sites.

“But the thing I like the most and the thing to give AJ credit for is that he said whatever deal they’re offering. You have to respect that, absolutely. He said whatever deal they offer me, I’ll take it. He believes he can beat Tyson.” Fury. I think AJ thinks he can beat Tyson Fury.”

While most don’t give Joshua a chance, Scott firmly believes the British star has the chops to upset the odds.

“It’s a tough job for AJ but in my opinion, he’s got pedigree, he’s got a gold medal, he’s got skill. AJ can punch, he’s a strong guy. He is big. It can almost seem like, when you think about all those attributes, like, wait, this is Anthony Joshua. Let’s go back. How could he not win? Personally, I think people who don’t give it a chance are crazy. I think people who don’t give AJ a chance, that’s blasphemy. I don’t agree with that at all,” Scott said.

“Fury has been on fire. He’s been smoking everyone. Yes, but he’s also more vulnerable than ever. Fury also gives you a chance to hit him harder than ever, and in the heavyweight division, I just can’t have full confidence in him.” someone who gives you a chance to hit them, I just can’t do that. He said it himself, he’s very vulnerable. He’s very vulnerable as a fighter. But that’s what makes it exciting as well.”
