Chris Eubank Jr. Calls Out Golovkin: Come Back Down To 160 To Fight Me

Minutes after Gennadiy Golovkin suffered a unanimous decision loss to Canelo Alvarez in an undisputed super middleweight title fight to end his trilogy, Chris Eubank Jr. seized the moment to call out the Kazakh KO artist.

“GGG you had a great run. Get back down to middleweight and let’s fight for those belts you still have in December or just let them go and I’ll take care of them for the next two years while you enjoy retirement…you earned it champ,” Eubank Jr. wrote on Twitter.

Eubank Jr. and Golovkin were supposed to fight in 2016 in the UK, but the fight never materialized.

Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn said at the time that Chris Eubank Sr.’s “crazy demands” caused the deal to fall through and thus Eubank Jr. lost a purse of nearly $3 million.

Triple G instead went on to fight and knocked out Kell Brook in the UK.

Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs), 33, has been adamant about calling out Golovkin in recent years.

Now that the WBA, IBF and IBO middleweight champion Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) is no longer linked to DAZN, there could be fewer obstacles in the way of a possible fight with the star of second generation.

Golovkin, who turned 40 in April, still plans to resume his career and look for big fights.

Eubank Jr. will fight Conor Benn in a 157-pound catchweight bout on October 8.
