Liverpool could drop Arthur in favor of Juventus target Douglas LuizJuvefc.com

During last summer’s transfer session, Juventus were desperately trying to get rid of Arthur Melo to no avail. The Brazilian has never really convinced himself since joining Juventus in 2020, and Max Allegri had no plans to trust him this season.

But just as the Bianconeri were beginning to give up hope, a move to Liverpool appeared out of nowhere. The Reds are going through a major injury crisis in the middle of the field, so they decided to reinforce their ranks with the former Barcelona player.

Nonetheless, it seems that Jurgen Klopp has not been impressed with his new signing. Although we are still at the start of the campaign, the Premier League giants are unlikely to keep the player’s services beyond his current loan spell.

According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool will be looking to replace Arthur with compatriot Douglas Luiz, who is followed by a number of top European clubs, including Juventus.

The 24-year-old has been impressing at Aston Villa since moving from Man City in 2019.

The Brazilian’s contract with the Villains expires at the end of the season. Therefore, he will be available as a free agent next summer, or possibly on a cut-price deal in January.

Last summer, Juventus considered an opportunity for Luiz before finally landing their main transfer target for the Regista job, Leandro Paredes.
