Does ESPN have the 2022 World Cup?
The simple answer is no. You’re probably wondering that because for decades ESPN owned the rights to the World Cup. It all started in 1994, when the World Cup came to the United States for the first time. ESPN and ABC acquired the rights to the World Cup.
Since then, ESPN has aired some of the most famous moments in World Cup history. Germany’s 7-1 thrashing of hosts Brazil in 2014 followed Iniesta’s dramatic goal to win Spain’s first World Cup. Before that, ESPN broadcast Zinedine Zidane’s header in the 2006 final, as well as Brazil’s victory in the 2002 World Cup, in what was a highly controversial tournament.

Regardless, FOX took over the role. After broadcasting the 2018 World Cup, the 2022 World Cup will be broadcast to the millions of Americans. Also, it is the first time that FOX is able to broadcast the USMNT at the World Cup after the team missed out on qualifying for 2018.
The 2022 World Cup TV schedule is now effectively set. FOX plans to announce its full squad of World Cup crews and talent as the World Cup approaches in November 2022.
